Energy

Humans have massively augmented their capacity to expend energy to meet their needs and desire. Originally only obtained from their own direct food intake and muscle power, energy capacity is / has been derived from harnessing animals, water, wind, solar influx, fossil fuels, geothermal and plantlife alongside other terrestrial resources. Technologies range from simple water wheels through internal combustion engines to highly complex nuclear fission installations. The 'side effects' can be seen in impacts on the different earth systems.
